Write a short bio with a professional bio generator

A professional bio generator helps when you need a few sentences about yourself for a team page, a conference program, a byline or a profile, and the facts are clear but the phrasing is not. Write your name, role, a handful of checkable details and where the bio will appear into the text box, and the Bio Generator shapes them into a short, readable bio. Say whether you want first or third person and roughly how many words. It is meant to work only from your details, so the result is as accurate, and as interesting, as what you put in.

01

How to use it

There is a single text box and no form to fill in, so include every instruction in your own words. A few labeled lines are enough, and rough notes work as long as each fact is correct.

  • Your name as it should appear, plus your current role and organization.
  • Two or three specifics: projects, areas of focus, credentials you hold.
  • Where it will be published and who will read it.
  • Point of view and target length, e.g. “third person, about 80 words”.
02

What a good bio includes

Short bios tend to follow the same order: who you are, what backs it up, what you focus on now, and sometimes a brief personal note. Each sentence should give the reader something concrete rather than a general adjective.

  • Role and organization, or what you do if you work independently.
  • Evidence: a project, publication, credential or result you can document.
  • Current focus, so readers know what to ask you about.
  • An optional personal line, if it suits the setting.
03

Illustrative example

Input: “Dana Ruiz, she/her. Pediatric nurse for 9 years, now nurse educator at a children’s hospital. Runs the new-graduate orientation program. Speaks Spanish. Conference program, third person, 60 words.” Output might read: “Dana Ruiz is a nurse educator at a children’s hospital, where she leads orientation for newly graduated nurses. She brings nine years of pediatric nursing experience and speaks Spanish.” An illustration, not recorded output.

04

First person or third person?

Match the voice to the setting. Third person is the usual choice for conference programs, company team pages and author boxes, where your bio sits beside others. First person often feels more natural on your own website or a social profile. State which one you need; if you need both, run the generator twice.

05

Choose a length for where it appears

There is no single correct length; the space and the reader set it. Ask for a target word count in your text, because there is no length setting. A useful habit is to keep a long and a short version on file.

  • Social profile: a line or two.
  • Byline or author box: one to three sentences.
  • Speaker page or team page: roughly 60 to 150 words.
  • Website about page or press kit: a few short paragraphs.
06

Review before you publish

A bio is often copied onto other sites and stays online for years, so errors spread. Read the draft against your notes once for facts and once for tone before you send it anywhere.

  • Titles, degrees and certifications exactly as you hold them.
  • No awards, years or audience sizes that were not in your input.
  • Correct spelling of your name and the right pronouns.
  • Fewer adjectives like “passionate” or “results-driven”, more specifics.

Bio Generator FAQ

How long should a professional bio be?

It depends on where it appears. A social profile may only have room for a sentence, a speaker or team page usually takes a short paragraph, and an about page can run longer. Include the word count or space limit you were given, and trim further by hand if the draft runs over.

Should my bio be in first or third person?

Follow the host’s convention if there is one; event organizers and employers often ask for third person. If nobody specifies, think about who is speaking: a page you own can use “I”, while a page that introduces you to others usually uses your name. Write the choice into your request.

What is the difference between a bio and a resume summary?

A resume summary is written for a hiring decision and sits above your work history. A bio introduces you to a wider audience, such as attendees, readers or clients, and usually reads as a short narrative. You can paste resume content as input, but say that you want a bio, not a summary.

What should I leave out of a professional bio?

Leave out anything you cannot support, personal details you would not share with strangers, and long lists of skills. Vague praise such as “highly motivated” adds length without information. If the draft includes a credential, award or number you did not provide, delete it before publishing.

Can it write a bio for LinkedIn or Instagram?

Yes, as text. There is no platform selector, so name the platform and its limit in your request, for example “LinkedIn About section, first person, three short paragraphs”. Check the platform’s current character limit yourself before pasting the result.

Can I get several versions to compare?

There is no setting for the number of versions. Run the generator again with a changed instruction, such as a different length or a more formal tone, or ask in your text for a long and a short version together. Then keep whichever fits the page best.

Can I write a bio for someone else?

Yes, for a colleague, speaker or team member, as long as the details come from them or a reliable source. Send the draft to that person to confirm facts, title and pronouns before it is published, since they are the one it describes.

Do I need a paid plan?

Yes. The Bio Generator requires sign-in, and each run draws words from a paid plan allowance. You can draft your notes before you sign in, and you can copy, edit or download the finished bio. Output can stay in your input language or be set to English, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, French or German.
